Meeting ourselves with softness changes everything.

Last August fifty women said yes to the inaugural gratis Gentle 30.  I created it as an antidote to the punishing intensity of hustle culture that dominates our socialization and training.

Work hard, play hard.

The devil works hard but Beyonce works harder.

Success is 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration.

 

I fundamentally reject those outdated tropes and also think they create more shame, dysfunction and trauma when what we're seeking is more wholeness.

 

We are artists and creatives, entrepreneurs and moms, caretakers and academics.

By definition we work hard.

And that monolith of daily life- the calendar- sometimes feels oppressive. How are we supposed to take care of our bodies, our spirits, our creative dreams when we feel overwhelmed, overworked, and longing to heed our souls' calling? 

 

For decades (millennia even) the answer has been to pile on more and more, reaching a fever pitch of intensity that does indeed suit some people. I suspect those people are not reading this page, lolz. And if you are, welcome to the other side! 

 

I created Gentle 30 for those whose lives require space. Whose bodies yearn for gentle care. Who have intense enough dreams and so don't need the threat of the stick to encourage some action in order to achieve them.

 

It can be difficult to carve out the time and space for generative practices like movement, mediation and creative play so this September I invite you to join me for a guided 30 days to move, meditate and create.  I do hope you'll join me.

Gentle 30 is a flexible structure that is simple enough to DIY. (And if that approach is for you please do! You can find all the resources here.)

You choose what and you choose when, or do them all consecutively.

A guided approach to generative action

This year's Gentle 30 gives you the tools to settle into a comforting ritual, albeit gently, over the course of a month. 

Move

We start with movement to get our wiggles out, tend to the physical and open up energetic pathways in the body. Each day will be free form movement with prompts for bodily exploration and experimentation. There are no rules here! 

Meditate

Next up meditation, even for those who might find it difficult. Guided meditations, simple breath work practices and open ended silences will give you a foundation to explore meditation on your own after the course is complete.

Create

Ah we are all artists are we not? The final component of the program invites play without expectation in whatever media chooses you. Low stakes and fun prompts will give your inner critic some time off so that you can let your creative self out! 

 

#Gentle30 is my antidote to modern hustle culture, to trauma and its daily impact, and to the loss of our time to degenerative activities that may hold little meaning for us. Finally I have found a way to carve out special time for myself and my dreams in a way that feels good, not punishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

When you guide movement, what can I expect? What if I have injuries or mobility challenges?

The guided movement is, you guessed it, pretty gentle! We'll have some themes (like necks and shoulders, on our backs) and I will incorporate some more vibrant movement. I'm combining my 27 years as a sports and movement coach with pilates and yoga certifications and my own journey to offer fun, easy and generative ways to get moving! Please email me if you have questions and need modifications. I got you!

I hate meditation/am not very good at it. How will this work?

I believe that everyone can learn to meditate in a way that works for them. During the 30 days I'll offer several different ways to practice meditation- some of which involve movement or guided tracks so that it's not just you sitting in silence. This is my favorite component of Gentle 30 so I hope you'll join me to see if you can find a type of meditation that you enjoy. 

I'm no artist, what is this creative play bit?

I tend to think we all have creative tendencies. But our creative play will be permission oriented- giving you lots of ideas and platforms where you can exercise your own version of creative play. You will not need to buy any supplies I promise (unless you want to my fellow art supply junkies)! 

Why is this so cheap?

I want #Gentle30 to be as accessible and generative for as many people as possible. I priced it this way to expand what's possible. It would mean the world if you shared this with your friends, family and colleagues.
